Hello, everyone! Hope you’re all doing well, and happy April!

Here’s a bit of an art dump for this month. I’ve been trying to make an effort to update about once a month to show what I’ve been doing for that time period. So far, April has been a pretty good month. Lots of sketches and as you can see here, actual finished pieces!!

The first two are a pair that are related to each other. That’s why it has similar colors, characters, and environment. In both, a baby plant nymph (or forest spirit in my mind they’re similar for the time being) bonds with its parents. In the first one, the baby hatches from her flower shaped egg and sees her mother for the first time. In the second one, the same baby (now a bit older and bigger; their skin turns a darker green over time) is hanging out with her father as they gather pet birds. Ironically, I’ve noticed that I also posted a nature themed piece last year around this time, too. haha XD

In both pictures, I wanted to create a colorful and magical environment for this baby to live in. (I also tried to use less lines than normal.) Hopefully, I accomplished that by using a rainbow of colors in both pieces. haha I actually like that color transition and might try future pieces with it. Of course, pushing it further to see where it takes me. ;)

The last piece is another vector doodle like I did of the blue haired girl from the last post. It was a way to break the constant art block struggle that I have, but I actually like this doodle! It was a nice change to draw curvy, sultry women again. It’s been awhile since I’ve done anyone like Scarlet here. She’s an interesting character, too; her inspiration (as well as some others) come to me from an odd dream. Dunno if I’ll decide to do anything with it, but it was very unique and holds potential.XD

Welp, that’s it for the moment. I’ll update next month…in May! Boy, how time flies!! Wasn’t it like New Years Eve weeks ago?haha Amazing!

Happy Sunday/Monday, everyone! Have a wonderful week!

In A Tangle
Amaryllis
Hello, and happy Spring, everyone!

I’m updating for this month right before the month ends. It sure has gone fast. I’m constantly amazed how quickly that this year has already flown by. It feels like December 31st of last year was just yesterday!

Anyways, here’s some drawings that I’ve done this month other than some sketches in my sketchbooks. Not too bad considering the amount of craziness that has happened over the past few weeks.

Both are based in the same universe. The first is based on a scene that’s been in my head for a bit. Both girls are gifted in elemental magic — the one on the left with plant magic and the one on the right with fire magic. There’s more to the story but to simply put it, it’s a rivalry that turns into a good friendship later on.

The second one is another quick vector doodle/character portrait. It’s somewhat based on that Bubble Girl drawing I uploaded here a few posts back. This girl here who is named Amaryllis is queen of a kingdom that is in the same world as the two other girls. Like the two others, she is gifted in elemental magic — water magic. She’ll probably meet those two later on as well.:)

Well, that’s it for the moment. Not too much, but I’m still a-drawing!

Talk to you all later! Happy Sunday/Monday, everyone!:D

Emerald Castle

Emerald Castle

Hello, and happy Sunday, all! Hope everyone is doing well!

I’m once again updating today on this lovely and possibly rainy Sunday afternoon. This time, it’s a piece that I did earlier this month featuring a tall emerald castle along with a happy family that lives inside.

The family is an unique one of sorts with many background stories that I hope to show one day full of twists, turns, and a few heartbreaks. Maybe they’re not too different from most people, huh?:)

In other news, it seems like I’m a bit under the weather again. It should be expected, I suppose, I’m working in an environment Monday through Friday that can be a shell shock to my immune system due to all the sniffles, runny noses, and tummy aches that pass by my close quarters on a daily basis.

Other than that, there’s not too much to state. I will be posting more art soon, and hopefully, I will have another project in the works, but I will keep that hush-hush until more develops on that.;)

Talk to you all later. Happy Sunday/Monday, everyone!

Red Threads

Hello, everyone! Hope you’re all well!

Just a quick update today. I added a bit onto that one drawing that I uploaded in the previous post, including adding a male counterpart for the Queen of the Underworld (Persephone) aka King Nathander as well as mixing up the color scheme making it red and monochrome black and white as well as some interesting textures.

I wasn’t too sure how the textures would turn out, but after a bit of help from some awesome artsy friends, I actually like how this one turned out. After playing around with these texture brushes with vectors, it will definitely be something that I’ll be experimenting with in future projects. Adding texture to flat vectors really helps it pop, but I know I can play around with it more and push it towards its full potential.

Well, that’s it for now. Hope you all have enjoyed some of the drawings that I’ve posted here. Please feel free to pass by and offer some feedback. I really don’t mind the small talk.:)

Happy Sunday, everyone!

So many colors!

Greetings, friends! Hope you’re all having a wonderful day!

Just another update! Over the past few weeks I’ve been experimenting with colors/different color palettes and patterns. The drawings here are the some of the fruits of my labor towards this experimentation.

Seamstress of Life

Seamstress of Life

Both pictures are featuring characters that are referred to as mystical/mythological characters in my ever expanding cast of monsters and creatures that frequent here. The first one is a type of water deity. I did want her to have a more full figure since I feel like not many of my girls have that surprisingly. Also, I haven’t chosen a name for her yet, so if anyone has any suggestions, I’m all ears!

The second one will actually have a second part to it in a different variation later on I’m thinking about. This colorful lady has many names and titles from the Queen of the Underworld, the Mistress of the Five Eyed Spirits, the Seamstress of Life, or just simply Persephone. She answers to all of them. (And yes, she has the same name as the Greek goddess for a reason, and yes, I know she’s not wearing Greek clothing; there’s a reason for that, too.:) ) Once I get it drawn, her husband, the King of the Underworld, Nathander, will be added to the drawing. Can’t wait until he gets drawn out.:)

Whelp, that’s it for now. Will update soon with more fun little doodles and drawing experiments. Happy Monday, everyone!:D

Goodbye 2012, and Hello 2013!

31 Dec

Hello, and Happy New Years Eve, everyone! It’s been awhile, but no, I have not abandoned this blog, I have just been busy and caught up in life.

Nothing too much to say in the art department for the moment. I’m still sketching ideas and working on them when I can. Trust me, I do have some pieces to share with you all once they get completed. For now, let me entertain you with some sketches on this post.:)

Doodle Book page 2 & 3

Doodle Book page 2 & 3

Here’s some of the sketches that I’ve been working on as of late. The first one I really like and hoping to finish it. The other two pictures are from a small side project I’ve just started called the Doodle Book.

It’s more or less what it says. I know this past year has been quite difficult for me to make art since this is the first year off from college. When at school, I had more opportunities to be creative it seemed, because, well, you had to. They were called assignments.

I expected the change from college student to college grad would not be easy. It has been quite tough. But, I’m making the best of it as well as trying to find a direction in life to goes towards. (That, too, is a hard assignment in itself.)

So, the Doodle Book is pretty much just a small notebook that I sketch in, but I’m trying to make it more stream of conscience rather than planned out. Not as easy as I thought. haha It’s like overriding a part in your brain, but hey, it’s the first round, so let’s go easy, then, work up.:)

Coming next year, I’m planning on doing more, getting more done, and moving up in the world. I plan on making more illustrations, having more ideas, and pushing more to get my work out there in the big wide world. I’ve made some progress towards those goals this year, but I can do more. I know it!

Anyways, that’s my update for this month. I’ll try to be working on updating more. For those for follow me here, please feel free to follow my work on Tumblr (where I upload more sketches than anywhere other than my personal Facebook) and my professional Facebook pages. Links of which you can find both in the blogroll/links column on the side of this blog.:)

Until then, that’s it for now. Have a great New Years everyone!

Queen of the Northern Wall

Hello, all! Hope you’re all doing well and enjoying the weekend.

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted, but I’m finally back!

It’s been crazy with my work to the point of exhaustion, but I have enough energy to post today!

First things first, the first two pieces may look a bit familiar to those that may frequent this blog…a few months ago (in the summer), I did two pieces for an artbook that is being created on the art community called deviantART for charity. Last week, I was finally given the clearance to post the full pieces.

The first one is called Almost Midnight Sky. It features my Goddess of Night/Dark riding on top of one of her shadow creature friends through a city. She is scattering the stars in the night sky; she often works with the God of Sun/Light who I need to do a decent picture of as well.:P

The second piece was one that came harder to me, but once it got going, it was fun. This is called Firefly Seekers. It features a group of children and two light spirits capturing a flock of fireflies for light.

The third piece is not for the artbook…but, a piece that I have been working on over the last few days.

Art block is something that has plaguing me over the last few months since I graduated last year, but I’m trying to get through it. I think it might be linked to the fact that I had grown accustomed to being given assignments, so I must find and make my own project. This piece is a part of a large group of a project that I’m aiming for…most of the drawings with my monster creatures are in fact.

Anyways, this lady is the Queen of the Northern Wall — Queen Virga. (That is her working name for now.)

The Kingdom of the Northern Wall (or Northern Wall Kingdom) in this world I’m creating is in the far North full of tundras, ice, and snow. The entire kingdom is encircled by a large wall, within it is where the kingdom’s inhabitants live. Their ruler, Queen Virga, (the kingdom is only ruled by a queen, so no king is in the picture now since Virga is still a young woman) is seen by many as a physical incarnation of the North Wind Spirit due to her powerful abilities to control the weather, mainly through elemental fairies such as those snow fairies above.

I do have a few more rulers to do pictures for, but those will be pieces that I will create in the future. Many of them are strong female rulers since I feel like there are not as many in history.:)

I was influenced by several things in creating this piece including art from the Avatar/Legend of Korra series(es), Mucha, and this upcoming movie called Rise of the Guardians. If you haven’t already, totally check out a trailer from that! It looks awesome!

Well, that’s it for now! Will update more when I can!

Talk to you all later! Happy Sunday/Monday, everyone!:)

Monster Mash!

Monster Mash!

Hello, all! Happy Sunday and Monday!

Just another update today. I wanted to share this Halloween illustration I did. Halloween is such an awesome holiday, and it gives me an opportunity to play around with some of my characters and their designs. Not like Halloween should be your only excuse to draw monster-creatures. They’re always fun to doodle.

Anyways, I’ve been wanting to draw a music centered piece, so this came out of that. It features a monster band led by a pink haired little devil girl and a green haired boogie monster along with their friends, a pair of cyclops twins, a monster that never takes his skull mask off, and a spider drummer! What an interesting group, right?XD

As well as playing music, they love to solve mysteries on the side. Think of the mystery genre-campy cartoons like Scooby Doo, but with real monsters (solving those mysteries), and that’s what you get.lol

Well, that’s it for the moment. Just wanted to share that with you.

I will post more here when I can. Talk to everyone later. Have a great day!

Happy Fall Moving

Happy Fall Moving; click me to move!

Hello, everyone! Happy Friday to all, and if tomorrow is here for you already, Happy Saturday then!

I’m updating again since I’m finally back drawing again. It has been busy like crazy on my end. So far, so good though. I have been getting used to my office job. It’s been crazy, and I’ve made a few mistakes, but nothing too major. Plus, it seems that most people there like me, so awesome!:)

Anyways, here is a small doodle that I vectored from a sketch of one of my sketchbooks. I’m carrying two around with me currently for some reason, but I think that works better when I get stuck with one. It’s a good way to get rid of that frustrating vibe.

The doodle here is based on the first day of fall/autumn. It started for the Northern Hemisphere this past Saturday, so I decided to do something based on it. If you click the image at the top, it will start moving (blinking and the birds’ wings flap a bit) on another page. This might be something that I might try a bit more; something that will get more complex over time. It’s something to think into. Here’s the flat version as well:

Character Design 8.31.2012

Character Design 8.31.2012

Hello, everyone! It has been awhile since the last post, hasn’t it? It’s been quite busy over here on my end, so it’s been hard to update lately. Sorry about that.

A few developments in my life, I have an almost full time job now. It’s an office job but it’s worth it since it helps with the bills and gets me geared for the career world. Even with that, I’m still keeping the other two jobs (the part-time retail and freelance design ones), so as you can see, I’ve been quite the busy girl. lol

I’m still doodling and getting drawing ideas during my down time. I have been in a bit of a tough spot in my art lately though. I think that it’s because of all the changes and business in my life, but I’m trying to work on it. I will be trying to post here when I can, and this blog will be periodically updated, but not as often as college but when I have something to show.

For now, here’s a vector doodle I’ve done. It was quite a fun little drawing to do, especially with the colors and shapes.:) And, I have to say that I’m quite happy with the hands. I think that they might be the best ones I’ve done so far, but I will keep practicing! Practice makes perfect, right?:)

Well, that’s it on my end for the moment. Just wanted to take a moment and show what’s been going on lately. Will update soon!

Happy Saturday/Sunday, everyone!
